The Obama administration issued guidance Monday that addresses sexual assault, rape and other forms of sexual violence.
The guidance says college and university campuses should implement a sexual misconduct policy that addresses the “ongoing and pervasive” issues that affect all students.
It also recommends the use of bystander intervention, a bystander-driven approach that encourages students to report sexual misconduct.
The guidelines also recommend the use “a culture of respect, dignity and equity” that is conducive to the healing and development of survivors.
The president has previously said that he intends to roll back several decades of progress on sexual violence, including sexual assault.
The president has also called for the removal of barriers to reporting and adjudication of sexual assault allegations.
